Child custody has two parts. Legal custody is the power to make decisions affecting the children, such as education, medical decisions and religious upbringing. Physical custody determines the children's primary residence. If one parent has sole physical custody, the court nearly always provides for visitation through a parenting time or visitation plan. Ohio courts prefer shared parenting - but one parent needs to be designated residential parent for school purposes.
Child support - This is an amount of money paid by one parent to the other parent for support of the children. There is an Ohio formula that governs this amount. Rainer will make certain that you understand how this works, and that the amount is correct. If they have a good reason, the parents can deviate from the guideline amount, but that has to be justified.
Dissolution vs Divorce - is the legal ending of a marriage by agreement of wife and husband. Divorce in Ohio can be either contested or uncontested. Rainer can hire a judge to process an uncontested divorce more quickly than the court.
